The Chapter Session

Your story, captured
one chapter at a time.

A one-hour filmed conversation about your life as it is right now. Who you are, how you've grown, and where you're headed. The perfect way to document your life as it unfolds, a keepsake for yourself and anyone you choose to share it with.

“I consider myself a reflective person. But the Chapter Session showed me that reflecting with someone is a completely different experience than reflecting on your own. Better, honestly.”

— Kristen

Built around 20 questions worth asking yourself

Every session moves through five themes — an honest snapshot of where you are, and who you're becoming.

Theme 1

Where I Am Now

Your life as it actually looks today.

“What's something you're still figuring out?”

Theme 2

The People in My Life

Who matters right now, and why.

“What would you want a loved one to know that you don't say often enough?”

Theme 3

Hopes & Dreams

Where you're headed next.

“What's a dream you haven't told many people about?”

Theme 4

Lessons & Regrets

What you've learned the hard way.

“What hard moment ended up shaping you for the better?”

Theme 5

Who I'm Becoming

The person taking shape.

“If you could leave one message for your future self, what would it be?”

These questions are a starting point, not a script. Before we film, we'll have a quick conversation about what you want to cover and what's off the table. You set the bounds — the conversation goes where you take it.

Common questions answered

How is this different from a full video biography?
A video biography is a one-time, in-depth film of someone's whole life story (often a parent or grandparent) — and can include digitizing old photos and tapes. The Chapter Session is lighter: one hour, capturing who you are right now (digitizing isn't included). Many people do a Chapter Session for themselves and a full biography for a loved one.
How long does it take, and where are we filmed?
The filmed conversation is about one hour. Chapter Sessions are filmed on location in the Coachella Valley — your home, a meaningful spot, or we can help you choose. (If you're outside the area, reach out — we may still be able to help, or point you to a full video biography.)
Do I book instantly, or is it a request?
When you pick a Chapter Session time, it's a request — I'll review the date and location, confirm with you, and send an invoice. (A free discovery call books instantly.) It keeps things simple if you're outside the Coachella Valley or we need to sort out a detail first.
Do I need to prepare?
Just spend a little time with the free 20 Questions guide beforehand. There's no script — we'll guide the conversation across the five themes on the day.
What if there's a question I don't want to answer?
No problem at all — the 20 questions are a guide, not a script, and nothing is locked in. Before we start recording, we'll have a quick conversation about what's in bounds and what's off the table, so we only cover what you're comfortable sharing.
Do I have to do this every year?
There's no obligation, but most people who do one want to come back. The Chapter Session is designed to be revisited: the same questions, a different year, a different you. Some people make it an annual practice. Others do it at turning points — a new decade, a major change, the start of something new. Either way, you'll have a record of exactly who you were.
What do I receive?
A lightly edited film of your conversation — color and audio polished — delivered to a private digital showcase that collects all your chapters in one place.

Who's behind this

Hi, I'm Sean

I'm the founder of Memoria Films. Since 2020, I've helped Southern California families turn their stories into films worth keeping. The Chapter Session grew out of a simple belief — that the person you are right now is worth documenting, intentionally, in your own voice. I'll be the one behind the camera.
